This dredged up resentment I have had towards my family for continually partnering with their dysfunction. So many years of Christians wearing the title but constantly gripped by addictions, infidelity, divorce, and lives stolen—and no one was willing to address the issue or call it out and demand change. I also was able to address unforgiveness towards my stepmom for years of neglect. That will be a continual process of choosing to forgive because those wounds are still fresh. A couple things I noticed in my time of prayer—it seemed to be easier to forgive my spouse than it was to forgive my family. Also, my dad has never functioned in the role of “spiritual authority.” Although Scripture says he should have been mine growing up, I never saw him through that lens. So, looking at him through that lens of what he should have been was different.

So powerful, exactly what I needed to hear and pray. Double-mindedness is the key to what needed to be renounced and all its manifestations. God had revealed that fear and avoidance plagued our marriage, and I knew we needed to be delivered from double-mindedness, but the Lord just revealed it on a whole other level in such depth (as you said it would, Derek). It is truly being delivered from the spirit of double-mindedness, and this is what has caused the brokenness and all that has manifested in our marriage where I may have been looking at other areas before. So I renounce double-mindedness and all its manifestations in me, my husband *****, our marriage and family, and declare single-minded souls in us to rise up and come into complete alignment and order with God in our lives and marriage. I was about to give up. My heart was swelling with resentment. Then the Lord sent you guys (again). I had never went through so extensively and forgave MYSELF like that. I kid you not, I could physically feel myself becoming more whole again. Idk how to explain it. It was like eating a super nourishing meal when you have been severally malnourished. I was like a ballon that was deflated but with each forgiveness I was being re-inflated. I literally felt this. The ache I was feeling left my body. I felt like I was being restored...praise God!
